Busy week on Pokerstars

Last week (finishing on Sunday) Pokerstars had a special week to celebrate reaching the 5 billionth hand dealt on their system. That is a heck of a lot of Poker that has been played on their system!
As part of this celebration, they doubled the number of Frequent Player Points (FPPs) that you would earn. I have taken full advantage of this and cleared one of my bonuses and I am now about half way through the latest bonus. I have managed to clear more points in a week than I normally do in a month (or more)!
I have recently decided to concentrate my bankroll on a single system, as I found I was not clearing bonuses before they expired. My most recent example of this was on VC Poker, where I did not even clear any - although this was also largely due to the fact that the expiry clause was hidden in their Ts and Cs, instead of being on plain sight in their software (I have raised a suggestion with them that they change their software accordingly) and I therefore thought I had plenty of time and did not concentrate my efforts there.
I think a lot of the Poker sites are a little short sighted in the way they provide their bonuses, as a lot of them are very very difficult for small bankroll players to clear (especially if a deadline is involved too). Us small bankroll players pay rake just like the higher rolling players and I would suspect that there are actually quite a large percentage of us and they must be making quite a lot of money from us. Yes I hope to raise the level I play at soon (probably making the move to $1/$2 Limit Omaha H/L soon, as I am profitable at 50c/$1 OHL) but even at that level I would struggle to clear most bonuses.
I am looking at what site to go to next (I will always return to Pokerstars, as their bonuses do not expire and are clearable - even if it takes some time) and Ultimate Bet is currently looking like my likely destination.

Busy busy busy

I have not updated my blog much recently as things have been so busy. With a combination of it being hectic at work, constructing a patio at home and fitting some personal time with the family around this - typing away on here has unfortunately been lower on the priority list than I would have liked.
Hopefully this will be the final week of the project I have been on at work and I can hit the patio over the bank holiday weekend and get that long delayed task completed.
I might even post some milestone photos of the patio's progress on here.

I am flying!!!

Well I was at any rate. Some time ago Tracy bought me a one of those activity vouchers for a present, this voucher being for a flying lesson. Now I have always wanted to learn to fly, ever since I was an Avionics Apprentice for the UK Ministry of Defence. Unfortunately I have never really been able to afford the expense to do so, what with even an NPPL costing around £4500.
Still the lesson was a nice present and I arranged with the flying school at Compton Abbas. Well we turned up a little early on Saturday and met up with my Mother-in-Law Sue. Tracy, Sue and the girls then waited on the ground whilst I went up (Cara wanted to come but there was nobody else willing to go up to look after her - wooses).
I had a quick chat with the instructor whilst he grabbed a quick lunch and explained my previous Avionics experience, which meant we could skip most of the stuff about controls and instruments, We then got into the plane and were off.

We had nearly an hour of flying, which allowed us to fly down to my house and then round Portland Bill and back to Compton Abbas. I was at the main controls (i.e. the yoke) for pretty much the whole of the flight, minus take off and landing (I chickened out of landing - although the instructor was happy for me to have taken the controls for that EEK!).
Damn that was good fun - unfortunately I REALLY want to learn how to fly now. I can only hope I win a good sized Poker tournament or win the lottery,

Humax 9200T

We bought a Humax 9200T Personal Video Recorder last Thursday. It is very much like a Sky Plus box in operation and comes with a 160GB Hard Drive, so apparently can record up to 100 hours of TV,
Now I had heard that one of these boxes completely changes the way you watch TV....and they were not joking. We now do searches for movies that are on during the week and then schedule them for recording. I also do searches for Poker programmes (normally on in the middle of the night in the UK) and record those. It was thanks to this that we saw Great Britain win the 888.com Nations Cup.
We are still playing with it and learning it foibles (including that the current software that came with it is over 6 months old and seems a little too unstable for my liking with a few crashes). I have bought a null modem cable and will try to update the software on it later today and see it that improves things.
Even with the software problem, it is certainly one impressive piece of kit.
