Preparing for Winter

I did one of the really depressing jobs this month, which is preparing the house for Winter. This is depressing because of what this entails, basically packing all of the kids toys that are for nice weather play up into the loft and storing the BBQ and patio table set in the garage. We had a really naff summer this year as well, with very little good weather during the summer holidays, so most of this stuff saw little use which is even more depressing.
Still the good points are that we can now move in the Garage again and the coming Winter also means the conservatory is cool enough to use for family meals again (had our first Sunday roast this weekend for AGES!) and the shortening days mean more relaxing nights spent with Tracy on the Sofa without kids running in and out of the house every five minutes. It also means Xmas is getting close, which although the expense, is a wonderful time of year when you have kids - especially young ones like the girls.

Just a little bit of Poker

As previously posted, I have been playing very little Poker this month. However, what I have played seems to have been pretty successful. Out of four games I have played, my results have been:

Son's Birthday homegame = Won
Free coupon Dirty Dozen NLH SNG (Titan) = 10th out of 12
Paid Dirty Dozen NLH DNG (Titan) = Won
$5.50 NLH SNG (Pokerstars) = 2nd out of 9

Perhaps I should continue playing a few games only when I fancy a game because it seems to be working for me.

Planting and Tidying

I am a local Parish Councillor for my village, so I tend to get involved with a number of local activities. In the past few weeks, this has involved planting Daffodil bulbs aound the village (and hoping they don't get mowed down in the New Year) and also a litter patrol. Both of these activities seem to have been pretty well supported, which is a nice indication of community.
They also allowed me to spend some quality time with my Daughters, as they both came with me for these activities.

Another month, another birthday

...and this time it was Richard's. He asked for a poker evening like we had for Paul, so the poker tabletop got another outing. It was a very fun evening, with another newcomer to Poker being Richard's friend Johnny. Johnny is one hell of a character and had all of us laughing our heads off at least one time during the evening - my one was when he raised a weird value and had all of having to do mental maths to try and figure out what the call value was now.
This is actually the first time I had played Poker for nearly a month (well except for a 3 card Poker bonus on Coral and Eurobet, which is not really Poker) and I won!
At the moment, I honestly can say that I am actually not missing it much - I think I burnt out doing all of the bonuses and forgot to play the game for fun. Well at least that was what Saturday night was all about.
