Like countless other blogs, here will be posted random musing on life, the universe and everything...well as long as the everything includes Films, Books, Motorcycles, Poker, Linux, Python and Dorset.

Blimey - played Poker!

I really have not had much time to play Poker recently but I managed to make a little time for a play on Sunday afternoon (although as it turned out, the little time turned into quite a long time).
I logged into Pokerstars and after a quick glance around the $5 SNGs and not finding anybody playing much other than Holdem, I registered for a $5 NHL SNG and also a NL OHL Play SNG and a Razz Play SNG. All of the games started pretty much around the same time, so my monitor was a little busy.
So how did I do? Pretty damn well as it turned out. Although there were the usual 'All In' muppets on the first hand on the OHL SNG, the rest of the players seemed to be reasonably competent. I did not see any obvious muppetry on the Razz table either and the NHL SNG was pretty standard. My final results:

Omaha HL = 2nd out of 10
Razz = 1st out of 8
Holdem = 1st out of 10.

I was really pretty happy with my play, especially considering I was playing THREE different versions of Poker at the same time. The only mistake I made that stands out was putting in a minimum raise on a bluff, when a chunky bet would have had the other player folding (as I later proved several times).

I might start playing Poker online a little more in the near future, almost certainly a run at the bonus on William Hill this month and perhaps I will look at what reloads there are on Party and Empire.

Happy Birthday to Cara!

Yes, my oldest daughter's birthday is only three days after mine. She is six today, it seems like only yesterday I helped bring her into the world.
Unfortunately she fell over at school last week and was complaining in the last few days that the pain in her shoulder was getting worse, so we took her to casualty on Tuesday afternoon.....she has a broken collarbone. So that is two fractures we have had in the last two months - Richard broke his foot when he stumbled off of a wall/step when he was out playing with his friends.
This means that Cara will not be going swimming for a month or so, which is a shame as she was really getting the hang of it.

Another year older

As the title implies, yes it is my Birthday today and I am over half way to retirement (unless they move the goalposts again) at 33. I was woken to my Daughters giving me a card which Cara was particularly proud of because she had done 'joined up writing in it'. I also got my first pressie, which is an Iron Maiden T-Shirt which I have always wanted (and this is the latest 'A Matter of Life or Death' one - woot!).
Only downer is I am work today, oh well.

What superhero am I?

Saw this on Wil Wheaton's blog and thought I would take it too. Apparently I am Spiderman (which seems appropriate):
